I shipped my last package of the year on Wednesday. Perfect timing. Thursday we had a really heavy (but short lived) snowstorm. It was nice not having to go anywhere.

So it’s taken me until yesterday to get all the packages out, but everyone has been pretty understanding. Whew! My knee is pretty much back to normal, thank God. The new wheel is ordered (THANK YOU HYENAS!!!!).
I’m still getting requests for customs but I desperately need a break. I hate telling people NO but I’m getting a lot of practice. I don’t want to keep a list or sell gift certificates or take orders now to be completed in February. I need clear skies ahead with nothing looming in the future, so that I will start back to work when I am ready to start back to work. Not that I don’t love what I do- but mentally I really need an open ended vacation. I suspect it won’t last that long since I’ll have a shiny new wheel sitting in the studio, though ;-)
Well, I dragged myself in at 12:00 midnight and came out at 4:30 a.m. My knee was swollen and hurt sooo bad! The dr. took x-rays and tried to aspirate fluid but didn’t get anything. He did numb the area first. He said it was bursitis, or “water on the knee.” Sent me home with crutches, vicodin (yay) and told me to take 800 mg of motrin 4x a day (boo, my stomach!).
Well I still couldn’t sleep at night for the pain, which got worse last night, so I followed up at the orthopedist’s. He took more xrays, then took a needle and tried to get fluid out. WITHOUT numbing the area! But my knee was hurting so bad I didn’t notice. He said “You want to see what I got out of your knee?” 20 cc’s of cloudy yellow pee looking fluid :-P Wow. Now I don’t feel so bad whining about the pain in my knee!!! He said I should feel immediate relief. I did. But he didn’t say TEMPORARY relief. Because a couple of hours later it started ACHING again. *sigh*. The vicodin actually worked this time though. I’m supposed to go back on Monday.
Okay, back to pottery.
So I had a 10% off sale at my hyena shop online. It opened at 12 noon on Tuesday. Hyena is right! I got trampled! People were buying up stuff so fast that the same casserole got sold 3 times. I’m not sure how that happened, but it happened to several items. I guess the computer couldn’t keep up or something? Anyway, everyone was great and very understanding as I contacted people to let them know their item had been sold to a previous buyer. They are so great over there.
And now my cupboard is bare! I have a couple of soap dishes, a lone piggy, a dog treat jar, some platters and a bowl. LOL. And nothing to put in my etsy shop. Sorry Etsy shop!
The downside is that now I have about 30 boxes to pack and ship by Friday evening!!! Crikey! With this injured knee (spent Monday night in the ER and Mike was in Europe so no help there) it’s going to be quite a feat. Because you know NOBODY will wrap my packages the right way except yours truly, the control freak.
Oh- I forgot to report on my Jamestown show- I did really well there, too!
